20 years ago today, on 30th April 2000, WWF televised Backlash from the MCI Center in Washington, DC.

This PPV followed Wrestlemania 2000 and was the second event in the Backlash chronology. There were nine bouts on the card, with matches featuring the likes of Kurt Angle, Big Show, Edge and Christian and D-Generation X. Chris Benoit defeated Chris Jericho by disqualification to retain the Intercontinental Championship, and Eddie Guerrero defended and retained the European Championship in a match with Essa Rios.

The main event was The Rock vs. Triple H with Shane McMahon as the special guest referee for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. The Rock retained the title after Austin, in his first PPV appearance since Survivor Series 1999, interfered in the match by attacking Triple H, Patterson, Briscoe, Shane and Vince McMahon with a steel chair. Check out the video for a legendary Austin pop ❤️
